Imphal: The Manipur government has suspended four police personnel for allegedly misusing their power and indulging in corrupt practices.
A commanding officer of the Manipur State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is also among the suspended police personnel.
Reportedly, additional DG of Manipur police, Clay Khongsai, informed that the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) received complaints about the Manipur SDRF commanding officer, taking money from the personnel in return for granting them unauthorized leave.
Soon after the incident came to light, an investigation was launched to look into the matter. and it was found that most of the personnel were on unauthorized leave.
The suspended Manipur SDRF commanding officer has been identified as Zakiruddin.
Besides, three other Manipur policemen were also suspended for helping Zakiruddin in his corrupt practices.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on May 19 ordered to suspend IPS officer for employing police officers for his domestic work at his private residence.
The Manipur personnel and administrative reforms department issued an order to suspend PG Singsit, the commandant of 7BN Manipur rifles, on May 17.
Biren Singh, further went on to say that the IPS officer was using 14-15 cops for domestic chores at his house and along with peon, cook, and gardener, he was using 10-12 cops.
He was also using 19 cops for making and repairing at his farmhouse.
The CM also added that DG and IG were sent to his place and they were stunned to learn that PG Singsit kept four women cops and nine male cops for cooking, washing clothes, and doing other household chores at his quarter.
Biren Singh also spoke to the police officers, who were employed at his residence and it came to the fore that that they were forcefully kept there and were not even permitted to go out.
